autoX had a website for over two years, which had been developed in .NET. The autoX team was looking for a revamped website with a new look, a better backend interface that would be easy for them to handle.
The Solution
WordPress was selected for the new website. The autoX team shared the website design with Srijan and we developed the website.
Among the key requirements for the new website was developing an Image gallery that could enable downloads in various resolutions. The autoX team also wanted to make uploading content to the various sections of the site simpler, as well as enable easy uploading of daily news. Since they work with a lot of images, it was important to ensure the visual layout was appealing. Srijan used Custom Posts and Custom Fields to make this happen.
Our team also made it easy for them to enter content by creating special fields to enter car specs. All these customized features have been well accepted by the autoX team.
autoX also wanted two image sliders on the website. Since image resizing can wreak havoc on the layout, Srijan developed a custom image cropping functionality that would automatically resize images without losing the aspect ratios.
A video section was also created which would fetch the videos from the autoX channel on Youtube along with a carousel of the videos available. This is not a feature that is common in WordPress, and was custom developed by us.
Srijan also handled the data migration along with active support from the autoX team. Since the migration was from .NET, the process was manual.
Benefits
- autoX now has a really easy-to-use website which simplifies upload of text, images, car specs and videos.
- The magazine also saw smooth data migration from .NET to WordPress without loss of data.
